Brian PurchiaBrian Purchia is a media and public policy strategist described by Craigslist founder Craig Newmark as “genuinely innovative.” He is the co-founder of CivicMakers, helped launch DigitalDemocracy.org, a searchable, sharable video engine for government and manages the California Health Data Project. He has led communications for tech start-ups, politicians, VCs, and civic tech organizations. Brian also developed the City of Porto Alegre, Brazil’s Office of Civic Innovation and open data program, modeled after the work he led for former San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom. Before opening his own communications firm, Purchia worked in media, as a reporter in Washington, DC.
