An entrepreneur and senior executive in the technology communications industry, Maria most recently served as Global Chair, Technology Sector for Edelman, the world’s leading communications marketing agency. Previously Maria and partners built and sold a technology communications firm, A&R Partners, to Edelman in 2006 after leading that firm over 18 years to become the largest independent PR firm in the Bay Area. In both roles she advised companies from early-stage startups to global leaders on strategic communications programs from branding and awareness to investor communications, executive relations, crisis management and market development. She also led a number of pro-bono campaigns for various nonprofits in education technology, early childhood education and college readiness.
Developing her ancillary interests in education reform and policy, Maria now is a Stanford 2017 DCI Fellow, spending the year at Stanford University in cross-disciplinary studies. She currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the Silicon Valley Education Foundation and spends time supporting various other child welfare and education-related causes. She previously served for four years on both the board of Teach for America, Bay Area and the Bay Area Council. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Stanford University.
